The CHIPMuNCS consortium involves researchers from four research laboratories in France with expertise in nanomagnetism, spintronics, materials science, photonics, and nonlinear dynamics.

Centre de Nanosciences et de Nanotechnologies (C2N)

CNRS and Université Paris-Sud, Palaiseau

The NOMADE group involved in CHIPMuNCS has recognised expertise in magnetic device characterisation (e.g., broadband ferromagnetic resonance, Kerr microscopy, magneto-transport measurements), microwave instrumentation for radiofrequency measurements (under temperatures ranging from 4 to 450 K), micromagnetics simulations, and condensed matter theory. The main participants are Joo-Von Kim (coordinator), Jérémy Létang, Myoung-Woo Yoo, Thibaut Devolder, Jean-Paul Adam, and Claude Chappert.

Laboratoire Matériaux Optiques, Photonique et Systèmes (LMOPS)

CentraleSupélec and Université de Lorraine, Metz

LMOPS has longstanding experience in non-linear photonic systems for telecommunications and information processing applications, with advanced capabilities for intensive data analysis, numerical simulations and bifurcation study of complex nonlinear dynamical systems. Beyond experimental expertise, LMOPS researchers will also contribute a strong theoretical component in the understanding and analysis of nonlinear dynamical systems, and the development of models useful for device concepts, based on their strong track record in chaos-based methods using photonic systems. The main participants are Damien Rontani and Marc Sciamanna.

Institut Jean Lamour (IJL)

CNRS and Université de Lorraine, Nancy

IJL has strong expertise in advanced materials, e.g., epitaxial film growth for Heusler alloys, low damping materials, and magnetic tunnel junctions, which will be a core contribution to the project. IJL will grant access to a high-performance CPU/GPU cluster for simulations and contribute expertise in the design, modelling and simulation of electronic circuits and systems. The main participants are Sébastien Petit-Watelot, Charles Guillemard, Claudia de Melo Sánchez, Stéphane Andrieu, and Hassan Rabah.

Unité Mixte de Physique (UMPhy)

CNRS and Thales, associated with Université Paris-Sud, Palaiseau

The laboratory is a pioneer in spintronics with the discovery of the giant magnetoresistance effect, leading to the 2007 Nobel prize in physics. UMPhy possesses extensive expertise in magneto-transport measurements and spin torque phenomena, magnetic multilayer growth by sputtering, optical lithography, and a nano-lithography technique based on conductive tip assisted nano-indentation. The main participants are Karim Bouzehouane and Vincent Cros.
